Certified Check

A certified check is a personal check that the bank has verified and stamped, confirming that sufficient funds exist in the account and the signature is genuine.

Unlike a cashier's check, the funds remain in your account until the check is cashed. The bank places a hold on the amount to ensure it remains available. Certified checks are less common today but still used for some transactions.
