Certified Public Accountant

A CPA is a professional designation for accountants who have passed the Uniform CPA Examination and met additional state licensing requirements including education and experience.

CPAs are licensed to perform audits, prepare tax returns, and provide other accounting services. They must complete continuing education to maintain their license. Many businesses and individuals rely on CPAs for financial advice and tax planning. Many finance professionals also pursue the CFA charter.
