Dormant Account
A dormant account is an account that has had no customer-initiated activity for a long period, often with no recent activity on the bank statement. Banks may restrict transactions to reduce fraud risk.
Dormant accounts can be reactivated by verifying identity and resuming activity. In some regions, long-term inactivity can lead to escheatment of funds to the state.
