Endorsement
An endorsement is a signature on the back of a check that authorizes the bank to process it. The payee must endorse a check before depositing or cashing it.
There are different types of endorsements: blank endorsement (just a signature), restrictive endorsement ('For Deposit Only'), and special endorsement (signing over to a third party). Proper endorsement is required for the bank to process the check.
