EUR is the official currency of the Eurozone, used by 20 of the 27 European Union member states. It's the second most traded currency in the world after the US dollar.
The euro was introduced in 1999 for electronic transactions and as physical currency in 2002. It's managed by the European Central Bank and is used by over 340 million people daily. SEPA enables easy euro transfers across Europe.
