QAR
Qatari Riyal
QAR is the official currency of Qatar. It is issued by the Qatar Central Bank and has been pegged to the US dollar since 2001.
The riyal is subdivided into 100 dirhams and is pegged at 3.64 QAR per USD. Qatar's vast natural gas reserves (the world's third largest) and sovereign wealth fund provide strong backing for the currency. The Qatar Central Bank maintains substantial foreign reserves.
