WST
Samoan Tālā
WST is the official currency of Samoa. It is issued by the Central Bank of Samoa and is subdivided into 100 sene.
The tālā was introduced in 1967 after independence. The code WST reflects Samoa's former name 'Western Samoa' (changed in 1997). 'Tālā' and 'sene' are Samoan cognates of 'dollar' and 'cent'. In 2011, the Central Bank partnered with the Royal Australian Mint for new coin designs.
