AFN is the official currency of Afghanistan. It is issued by Da Afghanistan Bank, the country's central bank, and is subdivided into 100 pul.

The afghani was reintroduced in 2002 after the fall of the Taliban, replacing the previous afghani at a rate of 1 new to 1,000 old. The currency circulates alongside US dollars in major cities. Da Afghanistan Bank has focused on stabilizing the currency despite ongoing economic challenges.
