BDT
Bangladeshi Taka
BDT is the official currency of Bangladesh. It is issued by Bangladesh Bank and is subdivided into 100 poisha.
The taka was introduced in 1972 after independence, replacing the East Pakistani rupee at par. The name derives from the Sanskrit 'tanka', a silver coin used in ancient India. Following 2024 political changes, Bangladesh Bank announced plans to redesign banknotes by 2025.
