NPR is the official currency of Nepal. It is issued by Nepal Rastra Bank and is subdivided into 100 paisa.
The rupee was introduced in 1932. It is pegged to the Indian rupee at a fixed rate of 1.6 NPR = 1 INR, facilitating trade with Nepal's largest trading partner. The Nepal Rastra Bank was established in 1956 as the central bank.
