BIF

Burundian Franc

BIF is the official currency of Burundi. It is issued by the Bank of the Republic of Burundi and is nominally subdivided into 100 centimes.

The Burundian franc was introduced in 1964, replacing the Belgian Congo franc at par. Centime coins have never been issued since independence. The currency is not freely convertible on international forex markets. The central bank maintains a managed float exchange rate system.
