Tanzanian Shilling
TZS is the official currency of Tanzania. It is issued by the Bank of Tanzania and is subdivided into 100 senti.
The shilling replaced the East African shilling in 1966 at par. It operates as a free-floating currency with the Bank of Tanzania monitoring and adjusting monetary policy. A new series of banknotes with enhanced security features was introduced in 2011.
