Bhutanese Ngultrum

BTN is the official currency of Bhutan. It is issued by the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan and is subdivided into 100 chhertum.

The ngultrum was introduced in 1974 and is pegged at parity to the Indian rupee, which also circulates freely in Bhutan. The name combines Dzongkha words for 'silver' (ngul) and the Hindi word for 'money' (trum). The Royal Monetary Authority was established in 1982.
