MMK

Myanmar Kyat

MMK is the official currency of Myanmar. It is issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar and is subdivided into 100 pya.

In 2012, the Central Bank initiated a managed float system. Following the 2021 coup, the kyat experienced severe devaluation with significant gaps between official and black market rates. In 2023, a K20,000 note was introduced amid economic instability.
