MRU
Mauritanian Ouguiya
MRU is the official currency of Mauritania. It is issued by the Central Bank of Mauritania.
The ouguiya was introduced in 1973, replacing the CFA franc. In 2018, it was redenominated at 10 old ouguiya = 1 new ouguiya, changing the ISO code from MRO to MRU. Uniquely, the ouguiya is subdivided into 5 khoums rather than 100 units, making it a non-decimal currency.
