XOF
West African CFA Franc
XOF is the official currency of eight West African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.
The currency is issued by BCEAO (Central Bank of West African States) headquartered in Dakar, Senegal. It is pegged to the euro at 655.957 XOF = 1 EUR. In 2019, reforms reduced France's role, and plans exist to eventually rename the currency 'eco' as part of broader ECOWAS integration.
