PHP is the official currency of the Philippines. It is issued by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and is subdivided into 100 sentimo.
The peso operates on a fully floating exchange rate system. The symbol '₱' was introduced during American rule. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas was established in 1949 and produces currency at its Security Plant Complex. Banknotes range from ₱20 to ₱1,000.
