ARS is the official currency of Argentina. It is issued by the Central Bank of Argentina (Banco Central de la República Argentina) and is subdivided into 100 centavos.
The Argentine peso has experienced significant volatility and inflation over the years. In 2025, Argentina implemented a floating exchange rate within a currency band as part of an IMF agreement. The peso is used for all government payments, salaries, and taxes within Argentina.
