Colombian Peso
COP is the official currency of Colombia. It is issued by the Central Bank of Colombia (Banco de la República) and is subdivided into 100 centavos.
The Colombian peso has a floating exchange rate since 1949 when the central bank abandoned its peg to the US dollar. Banknotes are issued in denominations up to 100,000 pesos. The Banco de la República actively manages monetary policy to control inflation and promote economic stability.
