LAK
Lao Kip
LAK is the official currency of Laos. It is issued by the Bank of the Lao PDR and was historically subdivided into 100 att.
The kip has been the sole currency since 1979 but circulates alongside US dollars and Thai baht. There are no coins in circulation—only banknotes up to 100,000 kip. The kip cannot be exchanged outside Laos and has depreciated significantly against major currencies.
