SLE
Sierra Leonean Leone
SLE is the official currency of Sierra Leone. It is issued by the Bank of Sierra Leone and is subdivided into 100 cents.
In 2022, the leone was redenominated at 1,000 old leone (SLL) = 1 new leone (SLE) to simplify transactions and restore confidence. The original leone was introduced in 1964 at a value higher than the US dollar, but years of inflation significantly reduced its value.
