SYP
Syrian Pound
SYP is the official currency of Syria, also known as the Syrian lira. It is issued by the Central Bank of Syria and is subdivided into 100 piastres.
The currency has experienced dramatic devaluation since the Syrian civil war began in 2011, falling from about 50 per USD to over 10,000. In 2025, the Central Bank announced a currency redenomination removing two zeros, with new banknotes entering circulation in early 2026.
