Turkmenistani Manat
TMT is the official currency of Turkmenistan. It is issued by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and is subdivided into 100 tenge.
The new manat was introduced in 2009 at a rate of 5,000 old manat to 1 new manat. The currency operates under a fixed exchange rate regime officially pegged to the US dollar, though a significant black market exists with different rates. Foreign currency exchange is strictly controlled.
