Ukrainian Hryvnia
UAH is the official currency of Ukraine. It is issued by the National Bank of Ukraine and has been the national currency since 1996.
The hryvnia replaced the karbovanets at 100,000:1 and is subdivided into 100 kopiykas. The name derives from a weight measure used in Kievan Rus'. In 2022, the central bank devalued the currency by 25% against the US dollar due to wartime economic pressures.
