MKD is the official currency of North Macedonia. It is issued by the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia and is subdivided into 100 deni.

The denar was introduced in 1992, named after the ancient Roman denarius. It is effectively pegged to the euro at approximately 61.36 MKD = 1 EUR. Following the country's 2019 name change, new coins featuring 'North Macedonia' were introduced starting in 2021.
