TJS
Tajikistani Somoni
TJS is the official currency of Tajikistan. It is issued by the National Bank of Tajikistan and is subdivided into 100 dirams.
The somoni was introduced in 2000, replacing the Tajikistani ruble at 1,000:1. It is named after Ismail Samani, founder of the Samanid dynasty. Tajikistan's economy relies heavily on remittances from migrant workers in Russia, making the currency sensitive to the Russian economy.
