Central African CFA Franc
XAF is the official currency of six Central African countries: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon.
The currency is issued by BEAC (Bank of the Central African States) headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon. It is pegged to the euro at 655.957 XAF = 1 EUR, guaranteed by the French Treasury. CFA stands for 'Coopération financière en Afrique centrale'. It is not interchangeable with the West African CFA franc (XOF).
